Carson visits Santa!

Carson is fearless when it comes to visiting with Santa Clause - he jumped right up on his lap, gave him a list of what he wanted and very sternly said "Santa, you need to bring the reindeer to my house so I can pet them." Santa was speechless!

Merry Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Wishing all of our family and friends a very Happy Thanksgiving from
Carson Bennett Winn, both a Pilgrim and an Indian!

Carson has been making all kinds of turkey, Pilgrim, and Indian art in school the past few weeks. This one warrants a posting - it's a Thanksgiving placement saying what he's thankful for - it says
"I'm thankful for Mommy & Daddy."
"I'm thankful for Zoe."
"I'm thankful for BeBe." (actually spelled BB) and
"I'm thankful for Mac."

We are so blessed and are thankful for our family, our friends, and our freedom!
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Happy Fall

As I type this, it's 70 degrees outside so it's rather hard to say happy fall when we really haven't had too much of a fall in Tennessee. The temperature does seem to be headed down later in the week - good for wearing fall clothes, and good for my brother Teddy who will start duck hunting on Thursday morning. You know those ducks don't fly when it's 70 degrees! (Teddy - is that right?)

Anyway, as I was putting my Christmas/winter wreath on my front door today, I thought I'd better enjoy this warm weather while I can so Carson and I headed to historic Carnton Plantation to play in the leaves -

Halloween 2007

Carson was a fireman for Halloween, thanks to our good friend Bennett Jung who passed down an AWESOME fireman costume! By the time the actual trick or treating event rolled around, he was much more interested in handing out the candy to the trick or treaters who came to our house than going trick or treating himself.

BB came over to help us hand out the candy and she looked great in her witch hat and "hair" that Carson made at school.

Pumpkin Fest

Each year the Saturday before Halloween, downtown Franklin hosts the annual Pumpkin Fest which is a great outdoor festival with many fun kid's activities. Jason was traveling so Carson and I went together to enjoy the festivities - he rode his first pony and had a great day!

Carson Beck and Avery were also there dressed in their Halloween costumes. They all looked so cute!

TBTB

I recently received an email from my cousin Mark, asking to see pictures of Carson - he didn't specifically say that I was a slacker for not updating my blog since June but of course I took it that way. I emailed back and said "TBTB - too busy too blog!" That's not entirely true but things are crazy as usual here. We've had a great summer, early fall and had a great third birthday celebration for Carson.

There are many blog worthy moments but in the interest of time, and in trying to beat my friend Jen to posting, I'm only going to post a few things -

September 22, 2007 was the date of Carson's third birthday party. We had a really cute exchange when I woke him up -
Me: "Good Morning! Today is your birthday party."
Carson: "I'm three?"
Me: "Yes you are."
Carson: (looking really puzzled) "All day?"
Me: "Yes, and next wee too. You have two more parties at school next week."
Carson: "I want to be 2 again."

Ahh, if only it was that easy, I'd be 25 again! Here's a picture of our sweet birthday boy.
And the other big blog worthy news is that we've finally transitioned Carson to his "big boy" bed...it was pretty easy which is probably because he's 3 years and one month ;o) He's so proud of his big bed -

Summer is here!

I just read an article about blogging that said the definition of blog is -
"a user-generated web site where entries are made in journal-style, are FREQUENTLY updated & are intended for general public consumption."
The problem here is the word "frequently." I certainly don't think my blogging once a month or every few months (as in this case) would fit the bill. In fact, the article goes on to say that some blogs are updated as much as 18 times A DAY...do these people have jobs? Yes, I realize I don't have one either but I mean really, who has that kind of time?

On to more important things..
Summer is keeping us busy, busy, busy and Carson is right in the thick of things. He's having a great time swimming at the pool and attending summer camp a few hours a week. Since I finally stopped working for HCA in March, we are having fun spending so much of our time together. I'm so thankful to have this time with him!!!

His favorite thing to say right now is "Mommy (or Daddy or BB, etc), I love you in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD." In fact, as I'm sitting here typing this blog entry, he's playing with his hotwheel cars at my feet and just said it. What a sweet angel! (Remind me of this when he's 15!)

Since my last posting in March, we've celebrated Easter, made a trip to Louisiana to see Big Daddy and Tine and celebrated a few friend's birthday parties.

NOTE: I've recently upgraded to a MacBook and I'm having trouble figuring out all the differences between it and a PC. With that being said, I can't get a few of the pictures below to rotate...sorry!

Easter Fun:
This was the first year that Carson actually "got" the concept of hunting for Easter Eggs. He enjoyed the candy inside more than anything else.

Trip to LA:
We had a short, but very eventful trip to LA to visit Big Daddy and Tine. Teddy arrived the day before us so we had a nice visit with "T" too. The highlight of the trip (other was seeing Big and Tine) was the Barksdale Airforce Base air show with the Thunderbirds...truly something to see!

Birthday Party Fun:
Carson's friend Oliver turned 2 in May and celebrated with a party at the local fire station which was really cool since the kids got to "drive" the fire trucks.

More recently, Carson friend's Fletcher celebrated his 3rd birthday with a petting zoo party...in true form, Carson was more interested in digging in the gravel than playing with the animals.

Perdido Key, FL
As I type this, we are in Perdido Key, FL on vacation with Jason's family. Carson is turning into quite the beach bum...good thing too since Jason and I both love the beach. He's having a blast playing in the sand. The boy would dig all day if he could!

Well, it seems we are turning into air show buffs...as I mentioned above, we saw the Thunderbirds a few months ago in Louisiana and during this trip to Florida, we saw
the Blue Angels practice at the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola.

Two in One Day...

It's been a while since I've posted twice in one day but this picture is very "blog worthy." Teddy, or "T" as Carson calls him came over for dinner tonight and brought Carson a Croc t-shirt just like the one he was wearing!

Our new addition...

We've just returned from a vacation to Orange Beach, AL and made a side trip to Mobile to pick up a new puppy...yes, a new black schnauzer named ZOE!!! She was born on Christmas day so she's almost 12 weeks old. Carson is in love with her already and keeps asking for "his Zoe." Carson's name for Maggie was "Nannie" so he keeps saying Zoe is a black nannie.
As for the rest of our trip to the beach, Carson had a blast. Our friends and neighbors, the Jungs were there so Carson had playmates. He truly has no fear when it comes to the water or anything else for that matter....take a look at him in the go cart.

Happy Valentine's Day

Carson has a new baby, his name is "Baby Ben" and it's not just Ben, it's always Baby Ben. He got it from his Daddy, yes, his Daddy, for Valentine's Day. He loves it!

Here is a cute picture of the Carson's playing with these really cool soft letters Carson Beck has...they have so much fun together and we hope they'll be best friends forever (BFF)!
And finally, after a quick road trip to Lexington to see Ashlea's new baby, Sarah Elise Parks, we stopped by Franklin, KY to see cousin Fran and Makenna. Carson is about 9 weeks older than Makenna.

January 15th... where does the time go?

First of all, just in case you guys think I'm a totally slacker for not updating the blog in over a month (35 days), take a look at the blogs of friends and family -
1. The Beck Blog, last updated August 22, 2006, (UPDATE: Beck Blog updated as of January 16th...nothing like a little shame to get someone to do something!)
2. My friend Meredith's Blog, last updated July 22, 2006, and finally
3. The Redneck Blog, last updated June 25, 2006...come on Bren, can't you put something on there about 24 at least?

Just kidding guys, your blogs look GREAT!

Here are a few new pictures of the "Carson's" together...one from today and one from last month...they have so much fun playing together! We are so thankful for the friendship we have with the Beck family.

From today, January, 15th...they were both out of "school" so we had lunch together and a playdate. The later part of the play date turned into watching Teletubbies since Avery was asleep in Carson Winn's bed!

Being fireman in December...

And finally, a few from Christmas 2006. Carson was thrilled with his tricycle.

With Uncle "T"
And the whole family...it just doesn't seem the same without Maggie.
